QuiltCampus Workshops
Technical Help and Information

How do I get the most out of the workshop? - Register to the workshop blog so you can post comments and upload pictures. Sign up for e-mail updates so you will know when new things happen. There is a link to sign up for e-mail updates on the step page.

The login does not work - There are different logins for our workshops. One is to access the pattern page and one is to log into the blog so you can leave comments and upload pictures. These logins are not interchangeable. Please scroll down to How do I access the pattern? and/or How do I register to the blog?.

How do I access the pattern?

Scroll down the workshop page and click the gray pattern button that says Click Here For Pattern Page! as indicated by arrow 1.

When the window pops up, type in the information provided by MsDesigns.

** PLEASE DO NOT SHARE YOUR LOGIN **

NOTE: This pattern page login is *NOT* the same as your blog login.
NOTE: The first three characters of the username may be numbers and all following characters are capital letters.
NOTE: The login is case sensitive; make sure your caps lock key is not on. If you use cut and paste for your login, make sure there are no spaces before or after the words when it is pasted.
If you have problems getting the step page to pop up, scroll done to The pattern page will not pop up.
If you cannot see the gray button, scoll down to There is no gray pattern button.
Please keep your login information in a safe place.

If you still have problems logging in, contact MsDesigns privately and provide:

     1. A detailed description of what you did and what happens?
     2. What error messages do you get?
     3. What workshop are you trying to access?
     4. What login username and password are you trying to use?
     5. What internet browser are you using?

There is no gray pattern button - This may be the results of a popup blocker, virus protection, or firewall on your computer. These programs may remove images from a web page, thinking they are ads. Accelerators for dial-up may do this too. Try temporarily disabling these programs to see if that makes the gray box come back.

What is an Invitation Code? - The Invitation Code is used to register to the workshop blog and to participate in some of the on-line games. You can get the Invitation Code from your quilt guild program director or group leader.

How do I register to the blog? - Everyone has a unique login for the workshop blog so they can leave comments and upload pictures. The login is created by registering to the blog.. First think up a username and password you would like to use. On the right under Login for blog, click Register (near the top of the menu section). On the next page, enter the Username, your E-mail address, the Password (twice) and the Invitation Code. The Invitation Code is provided by your guild program director. Click the Register button. To get back to the workshop, click view site in the box at the top of the page.
NOTE: You *DO NOT* have to register to the blog in order to access the pattern page for the workshop.
If you like, you can change your password or other profile information. To do this, just click Profile on the right. Make the changes you like and then click the Update Profile button at the bottom of the page. To get back to the workshop, click view site at the top of the page.

I forgot my username or password - On the right, click Lost your password? (near the top of the menu section). On the next page, type in your Username or e-mail address. Click the button that says Get New Password. The blog will send you an e-mail. Follow the instructions in the e-mail to have the blog reset your password.

NOTE: sometimes an e-mail from the blog will end up in your spam folder.
NOTE: Sometimes ISPs will think an e-mail from the blog is spam and will delete it before you get it. If you do not get an e-mail from the blog, contact MsDesigns for help.

How do I leave a comment? - This workshop is run on a blog system. This means you can leave comments on the web pages as we make the project together. In order to leave a comment you must be registered to the blog.
Once you are registered to the blog you can leave comments at any time. However you must be logged in to do so. When you visit the workshop web pages scroll to the top of the right menu. Enter your username and password and then click the Login button. The next page that comes up is called the Dashboard. To get back to the workshop web pages, click view site at the top of the page.

How do I know when someone else leaves a comment? - You can receive comments via e-mail when someone posts a comment on one of the blog pages of the workshop. Click here for full instructions how.

How do I post a picture in the Photo Gallery? - Before you can upload a picture to the Photo Gallery, you must be logged into the workshop blog. After you have logged in, click the Photo Gallery button on the workshop page. On the Photo Gallery page that pops up, click Add Items on the left to upload a picture.
Click here for step by step instructions on how to upload a picture to the Photo Gallery.
If you are already logged into the workshop blog and you still do not see Add Items on the left of the Photo Gallery page, close the Photo Gallery page, log out of the workshop blog and then log back in. That should reset your permissions to the Gallery.
If you still can not see Add Items, Contact MsDesigns and she will give you permission manually. 8o)
NOTE: It is best to upload jpgs and gifs only.
NOTE: Do not worry about the items under More Upload Boxes.... Just leave them as they are.
NOTE: When you upload a picture to our Photo Gallery, please post a comment on the step page to let everyone know the picture is there.
VERY IMPORTANT!: Each of use has 10megs of file space for pictures. Please keep your picture file size small to make room for more pictures. To make smaller picture files, use a lower resolution with your camera or scanner. If your picture files are too big, you will fill up your allowable space.

The pattern page will not pop up - It could be a popup blocker, virus protection, or firewall on your computer. Try disabling these programs while visiting the picture page. Many popup blockers can be bypassed. Hold down the CTrl key and while it is kept down, click the link. That may fix the problem. Accelerators for dial-up accounts can also prevent the window from popping up. You can sometimes avoid ISP accelerators by visiting the workshop with Internet Explorer and not the browser provided by your ISP. Make sure the pattern window is not already open but under other another window that does not allow you to see it. If all else fails, turn off your computer, count to 30, turn it back on and revisit the step page.

Nothing happens when I click the link "Click here for print step" - It could be a popup blocker, virus protection, or firewall on your computer. Try disabling these programs while visiting the step page. Many popup blockers can be bypassed. Hold down the CTrl key and while it is kept down, click the link "Click here to print step". That may fix the problem. Accelerators for dial-up accounts can also prevent the print window from popping up. You can sometimes avoid ISP accelerators by visiting the workshop with Internet Explorer and not the browser provided by your ISP. Another thing you can try is hold down the CTrl key and while it is kept down, press the "P" key on your keyboard. That may open the printer window so you can print the step. If all else fails, turn off your computer, count to 30, turn it back on and revisit the step page.

A PDF file will not open - Check to make sure you have the adobe reader program on your computer. If not, click here to get it.

If you have problems getting the PDF file to open, it could be a popup blocker, virus protection, or firewall on your computer. Try disabling these programs while visiting the workshop. Many popup blockers can be bypassed. Hold down the Ctrl key and while it is kept down, click the PDF link.

Accelerators for dial-up accounts can prevent the PDF from opening.

You can not view a PDF with webtv.

If you are on dial-up, it may take awhile for the PDF file to fully open.

If all else fails, then turn off your computer, count to 30, turn it back on and revisit the workshop.

Some things do not print - Before you print, make sure you have told it to print all of the document and not just the first page. If the text shows and not the diagrams then check the color ink cartridge to see if it is clogged or empty. If the diagrams print OK and not the text, check the black ink cartridge.

I can not save a copy of the pattern to my computer - It is my wish that you print the pattern and *NOT* save an electronic copy of it on your computer. Print several copies and keep one copy in a safe dry place. 8o)

I can not see the latest step - Many ISPs provide internet browsers with their service. Using their browsers can sometimes prevent you from seeing an updated web page. If you do not see the latest step after doing a refresh/reload (press F5) of the web page, then your ISP is showing you a cached version. When a member of your ISP visits a web page, your ISP saves a copy of that page onto their servers (this is called caching). If another member visits the web page, your ISP will show them the cached version and not the real version at the web site. The new page is up, but you many not be able to see any new steps. First try to visit the page using Internet Explorer in stead of the browser your ISP provided. If that does not work, then wait 24 hours and visit the web page again.

If you have any other problems, provide a detailed description of what you are trying to do and what happens to MsDesigns. 8o)
